Carl was a writer on THE BENDS (FX), created by Paul Attanasio and executive produced by Warren Littlefield; TOMMY (CBS), starring Edie Falco; THE DEUCE (HBO), created by David Simon and George Pelecanos; and VINYL (HBO), from executive producers Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter. Also with Terence Winter, Carl co-wrote the screenplay THE CHAMELEON for Netflix.

Carl’s plays have been presented at Yale Repertory Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, Second Stage, Comedy Central Stage, and many other venues around the country. He has an MFA in play writing from Columbia University, and has received grants and fellowships in play writing and screenwriting  from the NEA, NYFA, the Edward F. Albee Foundation, the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, the Chesterfield Writers Project at Universal Studios, and others.

Carl has taught dramatic writing at the School of Visual Arts, North Carolina School of the Arts, Hunter College, Manhattan Theater Club, Theater Development Fund, HB Studio, New York Film Academy, Gotham Writer’s Workshop, in private workshops, and elsewhere, and is the author of two books – TWISTED HEAD, AN ITALIAN AMERICAN MEMOIR (Random House); and EYE TO EYE, A MEMOIR OF THE NAZI HOLOCAUST IN POLAND, based on the harrowing firsthand account of survivor Ludwig Charatan. 

As an actor, Carl has appeared in many classic indie films, and is best known as Little Paulie Germani on THE SOPRANOS. He is a native of NYC and lives in Manhattan.
